Dowville boat docks are owned by the slip owners who purchased and pay annual fees for the right to dock their water craft. These owners share the docks with all cabin owner regardless if they own a boat or not. There are 66 slips and 94 cabin owners.
We all enjoy the docks and we all must follow the rules and be respectful of each other.

-
Fishing has been an on going issue for many years. Fishing off our docks is not allowed and never has been. This is the number one compliant, take your fishing to the shoreline, docks are for boaters not fishing.
-
Dogs must be on leash when on the docks. Many have all bent the rule and enjoy bringing our dogs down to our boats. Dogs use the wilderness around the dock entry areas and even on the docks to relieve themselves. This is an issue for all and this year you will find a dog poop station by the North dock, please use the bags provided to pick up after your four legged friends. We all love our dogs, but we don't like to track their droppings onto the dock and our boats. So please be a thoughtful owner and do the right thing. Your dog --your bag.----take it to the dumpster.

Dock locker boxes must be painted this season. We are being monitored by the USFS and our permit is coming up for renewal. The official color is Hunter Green, you can find this paint at Home Depot, Ace Hardware or Lowes. PLEASE take your box off the docks for painting, if you need help with this call me (818) 262-1331, happy to help. Painting on the dock can be tricky. A spill or drips will forever be unsightly and a fee will be assessed for any cleaning that is required. It is just easier to do the painting on the shoreline.
-
Do not leave trash, water toys, canoes , kayaks, canopies or folding chairs on the docks that block other users. Water craft belongs in the water in your slip. BBQ's on the docks are not allowed, our insurance company does not permit open flame on the docks.
-
Do not use the docks for water starts when skiing or wake boarding, there are 5 mile per hour buoys placed for a reason. The docks have incurred damage from the wave action from over the speed limit activities.
It is recommended that all boat owners carry their own insurance as the Dowville Tract Association is NOT responsible for any theft or loss of property.
Any transfers of slip spaces or sale of a slip must be approved by the board in advance. There is no set pricing for the sale of a slip or seasonal rentals. Each and every owner is free to negotiate their own deal.
Enjoy your summer on the water and on the docks. Be safe.

Respectfully,

Don Potts
